Hermann J. Binek
Founder & CEO
Hermann Binek is one of the most operationally experienced security professionals in the world. A former Mountain Infantry Ranger and member of the German Army's Mountain Battalion, he was trained by the German police in the Department of Personal Protection before entering the intelligence sector of the state. He holds an MBA with a second major in Psychology, degrees in Technology and Electrical Engineering, and decades of advanced certifications in emergency medicine, mountain rescue, tactical operations, and crisis management.
His career spans governments, global entertainment networks, law enforcement agencies, and some of the world's most high-profile individuals. What sets Hermann apart is not his credentials — it is his operational record.
He has successfully prevented three government-level assassination attempts, including an incident that resulted in him being shot in the line of duty. He has protected Royal Highness Prince Turki Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud at the highest levels of security detail. He has provided critical protection for global celebrities including Guns N' Roses, Cher, and Britney Spears. He has trained law enforcement agencies and police academies across more than 80 countries.
For over 20 seasons, Hermann served as the Head of Security for The Amazing Race (Paramount/CBS) — traveling through 90+ countries, building relationships with local law enforcement in every nation, and creating new international security standards for the production that remain in place today. Working across that many environments, with existing products including those from the world's leading crisis firms, he identified a critical gap: when real situations developed on the ground, the response was too slow, unavailable, or simply unreliable.
So he built his own system. Drawing on a network of professional colleagues in government operations worldwide — all trained security specialists and certified medics — that network became the Global Security Card.
Hermann is also a co-founder of HR Diagnostics, providing operational healthcare solutions and emergency medical services, and is heavily involved with Alpha Aid, a registered US non-profit providing emergency medical training in under-resourced countries and leading anti-poaching operations to protect endangered wildlife in southern Africa.

Where GPS Began
Hermann Binek grew up in Bavaria, in southern Germany, the son of a man who devoted his life to rescue. His father led the Mountain Rescue Service in their hometown and the European Rescue Dog Association for many years — even inventing equipment that improved rescue expeditions around the globe, earning national and international recognition for his work.
Hermann was raised immersed in that spirit. He watched his father face the grief of rescue missions that did not end in survival — and the profound joy of watching families reunite when a loved one stepped out of a helicopter alive. That experience shaped everything.
Global Protection Shield was established in 1997 as a specialized personal protection group for high-risk operations. Forged in response to crisis, it was conceived for a singular purpose: to deploy specialized protection teams in situations where conventional security measures had already been breached. When standard protocols failed, GPS entered.
Over the decades, GPS evolved from a close protection firm into a global security infrastructure — one that now protects individual travelers, executive teams, entertainment productions, and government clients across more than 90 countries, 24 hours a day.
GPS is an OSAC constituent (Overseas Security Advisory Council) and holds active relationships with government-level security services worldwide.
